Using SNAP for CSA shares: 2017

SNAP benefits are accepted at all of our summer markets.

We can also accept SNAP benefits to pay for CSA shares!  By partnering with Seacoast Eat Local, we have access to a program that will actually match your SNAP dollars up to 300%.  If you are interested, please read about our CSA options including the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page.  If you decide to purchase a share please use the contact form.  We will then work with Seacoast Eat Local to make it happen!

This also works for Marketshares but  when purchased through this program are limited to the sales of our VEGETABLES ONLY.

Please check out the video about the SNAP program at markets run by SEL:

The Sanford Farmers Market administers the SNAP program through the hard work of our Vendor volunteers.

Actual Veggies in each pickup for 2016

Message to our past members:

 Hello Two Toad Farm Community!

Despite the cold, we have thousands of plants started and the CSA plans have been finalized for 2017.  We have enclosed the “one pager” explanation of the 3 CSA options (same as last year) as well as a copy of this year’s signup sheet.  Please share them with your friends or anyone interested in learning about Two Toad Farm.  We also have flyers we can email if you have good places to hang them up.  Please help spread the word.

Veggie shares will begin on Monday, June 12 and continue EVERY Monday ending on September 18.   The Seedling CSA will begin on Saturday May, 13 and continue every other Saturday until July 08. Marketshares will run the same as always, but we have dropped the Somersworth Market and ADDED the Rochester Farmers’ Market on Tuesdays from 3:- 6:pm at the Rochester Commons.  Please stay up to date on what Two Toad Farm is doing by using our Facebook page and checking your spam email folder.  Replying a quick “got it” to emails helps ensure they go to the right place.

Don’t forget our yearly bonuses: if you have ever been a member of any of our CSA programs you get a $20.00 discount on your veggie share, and the yearly pay in full by March 15 discount (also on veggie shares) is available to everyone as always.  Tell your friends!

WE HAVE PORK!  Our Organic fed, pastured pigs did a lot of work for us this fall at the farm digging out and eating perennial weeds in Garden III, and they are so tender and delicious.  These guys were spoiled with thousands of pounds of apples, acorns, and were finished with whey (from Mb’s cheesemaking) fermented Organic barley, corn, and oats.  The result is that our hams, ham steaks, Canadian bacon, BACON, breakfast sausage, porkchops, rib steaks, roasts, and ribs are amazing, and we will have them for sale at the Berwick Winter Farmers’ Market Sunday 3/19 and 4/23 at the Berwick Town Hall from 10:- 1:30.  Please invite all of your friends!

We are excited about this coming year.  We are opening new ground, and installing a walk in cooler along with remodeling the old, cement block hatchery on the farm to accommodate veggie storage, indoor wash/pack, and maybe even a cheese room for Marybeth.  We are also in the beginning stages of contacting well drillers to put in a high capacity irrigation well.  Our soil has improved so much just in the 3 seasons we have leased Red Wing Farm, and we anticipate even better yields in 2017.  In a completely new topic, we have for years been wanting to start a wholesale and bulk buying club for foods that we don’t produce.  We will be reaching out to folks for help running this because we are just too busy once the farming season gets underway to administer it. Let’s do it!

So thank you all, and we hope to be hearing from you.  Cheers to 2017 being a great year!

Jordan and Marybeth

CSA is starting this Monday June 13

It’s been an up and down spring. Cold weather with late snow collapsed some row covers, then high temps and bone dry conditions made germination and planting difficult, and some CRAZY WIND on Thursday beat up the tomatoes and summer squashes. But despite that, we have lots of produce coming in for the first Veggie CSA pickup of 2016. Shareholders will be getting kale, chard, napa cabbages, lettuce, salad mix, and more. It’s early, and these early crops are what’s in season. Garlic scapes — one of our most favorite crops– are coming soon, along with scallions.

Happy Week ONE of CSA,
Jordan and Marybeth

We’ve taken $150.00 off our Veggie CSA

We have decided to make the CSA shorter and more affordable in order to reach more people.  Now, for $400.00 (additional early pay and returning member discounts are available), you can get a full share ($250.00 for half share) of fresh veggies every week for 15 weeks.

Our Seedling CSA and our Marketshares are the same as last year.

Our 2015 Summer Vegetable CSA starts THIS MONDAY, June 01!

It’s here.  The start of CSA season.  We have lot’s of veggies growing in this drought.  Here’s what to expect:

Radishes, Sweet Salad Turnips, Scallions, Lettuce, Spinach, Kale(!), ….  and maybe more.  We’ll see.

Remember to bring a box or basket to pick up your share.  Pickup is from 4:-7:pm at the farm on 288 Upper Cross Rd in Lebanon, Maine (the old Red Wing Farm).  Please pull in on the GRASS drive, and then EXIT through the gravel drive.  We will have signs up that show IN and OUT.

Please be sure to check your email accounts, INCLUDING SPAM, and send a quick reply saying you’ve gotten it so our future emails don’t end up getting lost.

Looking forward to it!

Jordan and Marybeth

We are EXTENDING the deadline on Marketshares and Veggie CSA shares!

We are extending the deadline so we can bring more food to the people.  Our Seedling CSA is full, however, but you can still buy seedlings at a discount when you purchase Marketshares (20% free).  And still, the best deal on veggies is through a Full Share.  Last year’s CSA Full Share members recieved $753.00 worth of produce throughout the summer for a $550.00 share!
